1. Carry out a TEST PATCH EVALUATION first as there are many different types of paints and surface conditions. All site conditions vary. Carrying out this test patch is essential to determine how to go about successful removal of the paint. Test patch results allow you to choose the right Peel Away product, and to determine the time that the product is needed to be left on the surface. It eliminates the possibility of carrying out a large amount of work with unsatisfactory results. Here at Peel Away we always recommend carrying out preliminary testing before embarking on the job proper.

2. Apply the Peel Away paste between 2 mm and 3 mm thick, covering the surface. Peel Away paste may be applied by the spatula provided, or by brush, trowel, or by spraying.

3. Completely cover the paste with printed Peel Away fibrous laminated paper and smooth out any air bubbles. Only use Peel Away paper, as it is specifically designed for the job.

4. Tape up the edges with masking tape for optimal results.

5. For Peel Away 1 and Peel Away 8, leave the product on the surface from 24 hours (interior) and up to 72 hours (exterior) depending on the number of paint layers to be removed.. For interior hardwoods and plaster leave on for up to eight hours. After using Peel Away 1 the surface must be properly neutralised prior to recoating. We recommend Peel Away Neutraliser, as it has the strength to do the job efficiently. The Peel Away neutraliser returns the surface to a slightly alkaline or neutral pH, enabling the substrate to be ready for repainting.

6. By sliding a scraper behind the paper, lift off the paint, paste and paper in one piece .Remove in small sections and scraper off loose debris and residue on the surface.

7.Thoroughly wash the surface with plain water, nylon brush and sponge. A second application of Peel Away may be required if acrylic water based paint has been painted over enamel and oil paint.

8. Neutralise the surface using Peel Away Neutraliser Concentrate for Peel Away 1. Refer to detailed instructions for thorough neutralisation of wood and plaster surfaces.
