Q. What surface do you want to strip? Is it interior
or exterior?
A. The surface may be brick, render, skirting, woodwork, timber doors
or furniture. Peel Away can be used on most surfaces, interior and exterior
applications.
Q. How old is the paint and what sort of condition
is it in?
A. The paint may be in relatively good condition or may be peeling or
cracked and flaking, especially for exterior paints. If the building is
more than 30
yrs old, it probably has lead in the paint.
Q. What type of paint is it, and has it been painted
recently?
A. It may be oil based enamel paint, or acrylic water based paint. If
unsure a simple test can be performed. Apply methylated spirits to a rag
and rub
the painted surface. If paint is removed onto the rag, the surface is
acrylic water based paint. Apply mineral turpentine to a rag and rub
the painted surface. If paint is removed onto the rag the surface is an
oil based enamel paint.
Q. How many layers of paint is there?
A. If multiple layers of paint are present, carry out a test patch using
the 1 kg pack size. Peel Away can remove multiple layers effectively,
but a test
patch must be used to determine the stripping product that is most effective.
If different types of paint have been applied a test patch is the best
method to determine which Peel Away product to use.
Q. Will Peel Away strip multiple layers of paint
in one application?
A. Yes. Peel Away can and has stripped up to 30 layers of oil/enamel paint
in one application. Peel Away works on acrylics, epoxies and urethane.
Q. Will Peel Away work on all surfaces?
A. The Peel Away products work on soft woods (pine etc), bricks, plaster,
render, concrete/masonry, cast iron and other metals, hardwoods,
fibreglass, stone, wallpaper and marble. Peel Away can remove graffiti
from most surfaces. Peel Away can remove most chemically resistant
coatings.
Q. Can I do it myself?
A. Yes. Peel Away can be applied as a DIY project by following information
data sheets that are supplied with the product. Instructions are
comprehensive and easy to follow.
Q. Will Peel Away damage surfaces that it is applied
to?
A. Peel Away will not damage surfaces if applied as directed. However
on some surfaces such as plaster care needs to be taken not to leave the
product on too long as the plaster will absorb the moisture from the product
and dry out.
Q. Where can I get it?
A. Peel Away is available from specialist paint stores Nationally.
